When watching Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers with a mind towards mocking the not-quite-subliminal gaiety, "Edoras" sounds very much like "Pederast" (credit to batnandu).

Mythbusters is quickly becoming a weekly favorite. My favorite segment for the past week: Buster (the crash test dummy) gets foisted thirty feet holding onto a rope-and-pulley holding a barrel of bricks, collides with the barrel, falls the same height when the barrel crashes and the bricks fall out, and gets hit by the barrel's fall.

Second favorite segment? Watching them launch frozen and thawed chickens into an airplane fuselage from a high-powered pneumatic gun.

The US Postal Service seems to have delivered my Finding Nemo DVD to one of my neighbors, according to their package tracking site, because I certainly don't have it... (Hey, xopherg, tell those people in customer service to send me another one!)

Hopefully, they'll get their shit together when I get my American Science and Surplus order...

Despite a plot that I would regularly rip into for holes and/or discontinuities, Spirited Away and it's DVD extras show me that Hayao Miyazaki is pretty amazing. I think I might've been slightly underwhelmed because of the number-one-in-Japan hype, but it's still quite an emotionally stirring movie.

This week's open_on_sunday challenge was to write a character, pairing, or genre which you normally wouldn't, so I threw together some Willow/Giles. It needs further editing, but LJ was being a hoary bitch last night, because the Chef cluster was tetchy, so I got a case of the fuckits.

ETA: Dweezil Zappa must die.

Much like with Princess Monoke, I didn't quite get all the hype.

It sure was pretty, tho.

I really liked the scene where the paper dolls are attacking the dragon--the extremely dynamic animation, which you've pretty much come to expect from most high-quality anime.

I think I liked this one more than Mononoke, too--despite the discontinuous story, it cohered better than the other.

I'm personally far more partial to Totoro or Castle in the Sky...

I liked Totoro quite a bit. I only watched about 10 minutes of Castles before deciding it was too childish...
