When the woman you love declares that there is no possibility that you will be together ever again, while at the same time insisting that the relationship that you had was "perfect" when it was just the two of you, your mind is liable to do all sorts of mental gymnastics trying to figure out what exactly you should do to not royally fuck up your next potential relationship*.

It's cold and lonely here, and I wish I could just sleep.
